In late 2017, the City of Sidney adopted the 2017 Comprehensive Plan as its vision for how the city should grow and develop over the next 10 to 20 years.

The Plan identifies ten themes and initiatives for the city's growth:

  1. Downtown Revitalization

  2. Neighborhood Revitalization

  3. Aggressive Property Maintenance Enforcement

  4. “Activate” the Riverfront

  5. Promote Pedestrian Connectivity

  6. Improve Public and Private Partnerships

  7. Beautify the Corridors

  8. Improve the Gateways

  9. Heighten Community Planning Resources

  10. Ensure Effective Community Services to Support Growth and Revitalization

The Plan also includes a Future Land Use Plan, which focuses on 18 Policy Areas

The Plan is the basis for a new modern Sidney Code.

About the Project:

In late 2019, the City engaged Calfee Zoning, an Ohio-based zoning consultancy to work with the City to modernize the Sidney Code. 

The project is scheduled to be completed in 12-14 months. 

A Working Committee has been formed to provide technical input into the coding process.  The committee will meet regularly during the project.

The Planning Commission and City Council will be updated regularly throughout the project.  To take effect, the new code will require adoption by the City Council.
